Really nice alternate to my aeropress. I love the flavours it brings out.
You can definitely achieve very high extraction with this. The only issue is that it's very difficult to get a full sparkling flavor which you can get from a V60. But overall its a good purchase and I occasionally use it with some nice light nordic roasts.
I'll start by saying that I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as your ONLY coffee dripper, especially if you are just getting into coffee. However, those people (you know who you are) that collect coffee equipment and enjoy experimenting with cool brew methods need this in their kit! Especially when it comes to playing around with high extractions... Anyways, if you're a coffee geek, just buy one. I got one for me and one for my boss for Christmas, and we both love them. A LITTLE TRICK: buy an 80mm clicker die on Etsy and try cutting out different filters to save $$ in the long run! I enjoy the results of chemex filters...
I’m really enjoying the zero bypass method and smaller doses. Great addition to then arsenal.
I believe the version I received is the V2 where the filter plate can be a bit hard to fit and remove. The latest V3 looks to be easier for removal.
Mine is the amber. Matches well with the heart and kinto amber glassware, though it is a little dark when trying to assess the bed flatness before things settle.
A well-made brewer that does not require a gooseneck kettle to begin with. The black tub container is of high quality albeit tricky to open. I got this to see if it can brew lightly-roasted, high elevation, washed Ethiopian coffees without stalling. With WWDT, it seems to preform well with a C40 but not with a ditting 807 LS. The shower head is a clever design but unfortunately it does not fully mitigate the pouring pattern as the Gabi/Melo tools. Overall, a great addition to your brewer collection if you are into high EY brews.
