the best carter lid.

I have all the carter models and lids that go with them. The slide-lock lid is the best of them. The regular lid might have the best temperature retention but the slide-lock works quite well. What it might give up in retention it makes up in drinkability. I find it easy to use and maintain. It adds about 30g weight and 3cm height to the mug compared to the regular lid. It is leak proof but some fluid might get left in the well of the spout and leak out after it is shut. Also I've some times failed to seat the lid correctly to the mug and had leaking. I think it is properly engineered and manufactured. I like the sound it makes when I snap the lid shut. It is made with strong heavy plastic parts that fit together tightly. I use it with the splash guard to keep ice cubes from clogging the spout. It is better choice than the 360. I have Miir, Sttoke, Contigo and Zojirushi travel mugs and the Carter mug with the slide-lock lid and the Zojirushi are my favorites. The Zojirushi is light and compact, the Carter is large, heavy and has a solid build.

Nice to have!

We have an interesting issue - we want something that won't impart taste of tea latte and yet not so good at heat retention because of milk. So even though the splash guard did a lovely job but we want something more....slip friendly, so we decide to try the slide lock lid. We were initially taken aback by the instruction video on how to take it apart and clean it, but it's actually really simple and straight forward. I took one star off because it's actually not leak proof but it does it's job and we like it quite a bit
