  • CONSISTENCY IN YOUR CRAFT

When we see a tamper in a Barista's hand we know the significance. It is the tool that a barista uses most often. The tamp translates the Barista's skill of craft into the resulting shot. It is a tool of assumed simplicity with substantial purpose.

The New Levy Tamp brings unparalleled consistency to your espresso production. Simply determine the ideal weight of ground coffee in your portafilter and spin the Levy's center spacer to achieve the perfect tamp depth.

The New Levy makes consistency and quality possible with every shot. Built in Saint Anthony Industries' workshop by hand, each one is a unique piece. Made from precision machined stainless steel and inlaid with your choice of American hardwoods, or a fully coated industrial grade Teflon.

    • 58mm Tamper - Actual Diameter 58.30mm (2.295inches) - Designed for use with precision baskets
    • 53mm Tamper - Actual Diameter 53.30mm (2.098inches)
    • Adjustable Depth: 5mm - 14mm
    • Handcrafted in the USA
    • Made from Stainless Steel and American Hardwood
    • Precision engineered to +/- 0.002"
    1. Adjust the Wedge to the Proper Depth
    2. Grind a Shot of your Favourite Espresso
    3. Slightly Level Coffee Grounds with a few Knocks or Taps

Best tamping

Super easy to adjust, excellent tool for my coffee routine.

Consistent tamping

Easy to adjust, don't have to push that hard once you've dialled in how far you need to tamp. Love the weight, very well built, aesthetic.

Quality craftsmanship

I received the New Levy Tamp for my birthday and I feel spoiled!
The pros of this product:
- well built; you can feel and see the quality (very heavy)
- beautiful tool with wood finish
- fits snugly in a 58 mm portafilter with no messy grinds on the side
- due to design, impossible to tamp on an angle
- makes a beautiful, clean puck
The cons of this product:
- the cost
- the uncertainty of whether it has improved the quality/consistency of my shots (the jury is out)
- the lack of markings to measure depth (I am looking at purchasing an upgrade option ($20) to deal w this)
For me, this tool has taken a lot of the stress out of tamping and seeing a beautiful clean puck is important to me. I am sure there are cheaper products on the market, but if you don't mind dropping $200 on an espresso accessory, I recommend this product. Plus, if this product is sold/recommended by Eight Ounce Coffee and Clive Coffee, it MUST be good.

Works great if you use a single coffee

Once you’ve dialed in your dose weight for a specific coffee, this is great for keeping things consistent. However, if you’re constantly changing coffees, a tamper that clicks at a set pressure like the Espro is a bit more easy to use without having to reset the tamper height on the New Levy.

Cool but gives tendonitis

Its quite heavy. Super well built but hard on wrists. Theres not much grip into it so its hard to work with it all day.

Good for consistency
