Easy installation. Expands the range of the roaster, so I can roast lower batches (better for sampling/cupping) and bigger batches (better for dialed roasts). The machine adjusts the profiles for the roast size so it’s a breeze!
At first I wasn't sure I needed this but with 120g to 160g roasts, the boost kit allows for the expansion of this amount of beans as they roast. I have also roasted 60g batches . All are good! Eight ounce gave the best deal on the boost kit so I bought my Kaffelogic with the boost from them.

With the boost kit, you are mainly paying for the software feature that allows you to dynamically control the amount of beans anywhere between 50g and 200g. If you select over 120g, then you need to also install the hardware piece that will allow you to load a larger amount of beans in the roasting chamber. It's pretty simple but effective. So far, I have only roasted 80g, which was outside the range of the KL without the boost upgrade. Everything worked well as planned. It’s a good addition; not cheap, but if you are often roasting larger batches, it makes sense to use it.
-1 star right off the bat for sending me one with a code that was already activated. Took me a week to get a new code - which 8 oz took care of for me through Kaffelogic. After the new code arrived there have been no issues! I get that Kaffelogic is a small company and there are hiccups. But the product is supposed to be "premium" and the boost is quite expensive considering what you are getting. The fact that I was sent an old code was annoying!
I didn't feel like i really needed to roast more beans per batch but you also need it if you wish to roast less, something like 50g. I enjoy small batches, it lets me try more different ideas without the fear of ruining great beans
